Susan....Thank you.I have finished my research on my Hardy line...I have pulled many wills, marriage records, etc. There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is not correct so you have to be careful.Billy P. and I have worked hard on this line.
Sarah Hardy Stewart is my grandmother....she married Benjamen Dorsey Stewart.
Her father was William L. Hardy who married Mary Margaret Townsend.
His father was Robert Hardy who died early in 1853.His mother was Mary Ann Elizabeth Meadows. After Robert died, she married Robert's brother, WIlliam A. L. Hardy.
Their father was RObert Hardy who died in 1843 AND their mother was Nancy Browning.
His father was John Hardy and mother was Ann Williams.
Again, I have the records and feel very comfortable with my own research.I have been to Lunenburg, Va, Ala.,Edgefield SC, etc. to do my own research. That is the best way.Again there is far too much incorrect info on the internet at some sites. Also, people write books about the Hardy family in a hurry and don't do adequate research. One of the best books is "Our Father's Fields" by James Kibler. His research is wonderful and I trust the info in his book. He gives all of his sources.
I have a copy of the bible page of Covington Hardy and his wife, Catherine Buford. They had a child named Henry. This bible page also lists all of the children of John C. Hardy, a son of Covington.
Thank you again....it took a while and a lot of help from some wonderful cousins that I met along the way, but I think I have it straight.I have many wills from the Isle of Wight that have helped also.
Good luck in your search!
