Betsy, Jenney, Julian and Jesse J. Hardy
I found an interesting deed in Edgefield County, SC Deed Book 34 that may give some of you clues to your family links. If anyone has any ideas, please share with me.I would appreciate a personal e-mail to [email protected].
Deed book 34, page 509
Enoch Singleton to Betcy [sic} Hardy, Jenney Hardy, Julian Hardy and Jesse J. Hardy, children of Kit Hardy and my present wife Polly, then Polly Hardy a Deed of Gift dated 12 February 1818.The deed included household goods and livestock. It was witnessed by Richrd H. Tutt and signed by Enoch (x) Singleton.Proven 12 February 1818 by Richard H. Tutt before M. Mims, CCP.Recorded 12 Feb 1818.
Does anyone have any idea who Kit Hardy was? There was a Christopher Hardy killed during the Revolutionary War in the Battle at Hayes Station in what is now Laurens County, but his widow was Jean/Jane and he had a son Christopher who married and moved to Georgia.
I have never connected the Revolutionary Christopher Hardy to parents.
I would like very much to find out who this Kit Hardy family is.
