Hi Karen,

Glad you found the previous messsage interesting. I meant to say the Hardwidges in Westbury-sub-Mendip next to Cheddar, not Westbury Wilts.
If there is no burial entry for your Joseph in the parish you have been searching, this strongly suggests he was born in another parish not so far away, as the custom used to be to bury the deceased in the parish they were born in, even though they may have lived all their life in another parish.
You may well have a pleasent surprise install for you in Westbury-sub-Mendip. Good luck!
