Sarah Miranda Harden/in/Harding of NC
I am trying to find the PARENTAGE of Sarah Miranda Harden/in/Harding; also, to find her
BROTHERS AND SISTERS.I find Sarah Miranda Harden/in/Harding listed on the 1850 Wilkes Co., NC census living in the household of Andrew Silcock/Silcox/Sylcox and his wife Delva (Souther) b. 1806/1807. Marinda HardEn is listed as 19 years old but believe she was like 16 years old. Also, living in this household is a Louisa Souther (Southern on census), age 32.I wonder if Sarah is related to the Souther family there in Wilkes Co.?
Sarah was married on 1 April, 1851 in Wilkes Co. to William Chambers. She is listed on
marriage record as Randay HardIn.Bondsman was James Reddin/Redding and Witness was Richard Walker.
Sara moked a corn-cob pipe (and believe a
clay pipe also). Was a high tempered woman, would pop her hands loudly when angry. She was a short, wiry woman with brown eyes and
appears to have darkish skin and high cheek
bones in photos I've seen of her.
Her death record lists Sarah as being born
10 June, 1835 and died 19 April, 1920 in
Mocksville, Davie Co., NC.Buried at the
North Cooleemee Cemetery in Davie Co., NC.
Her husband, Wm. Chambers, had died about
1900 also in Wilkes Co., NC.Sarah's death
record does not list her parentage.
The only "clue" I have of her possible lineage is that a greats grandson said she
was about 6th cousin to President Warren G.
Harding. If I could learn the names of her
brothers and sisters, then it is possible to find out her parentage.I do not know her
siblings even.A greats grandson of Sarah's
mentioned something about a 1/2 sister but
had no name.If Sarah had a 1/2 sister, that
means two families surnames might be involved.
There is a Thomas HardEn that married a Sarah Hubbord/Hubbard on 26 Dec 1833 in
Wilkes Co.Bondsman:Thomas Ferguson and Witness was Wm. Mastin.Again, a Thomas
HardEn married a Caroline Laws on 5 July, 1838 in Wilkes Co. with Bondsman being J. E. Mastin and Witness a D. Gray.It could be
possible this Thomas HardEn is the father of
Sarah but do not know.On the 1850 Wilkes Co. census there is no Thomas HardEn listed so where did he go?
Sarah and Wm. Chambers had the following children: (maybe "clues" here in the names)
1.Seth Chambers b. 1851/52 m. Mary J. Brooks
2.Camada/Camanda/Nora "Canzadie" Chambers b. Nov. 1854 m. Francis C. "Clem" Taylor ca. 1890.

4.Mary J. Chambers b. ca. 1859 died young.
5.Almeda Caroline Chambers b. Aug 1861-68
m. #1 _____ Harris

10James Frank Chambers b. 1874 and

Hope someone out there can help.
