Hi Mark,

I haven't coma across the name Cornelius in my mother's line of Hardins with the exception of Ulysses "Lew" Cornelius, the son of Doctor "Dock" Hardin and Margaret Street. Since I have records dating back quite a ways with no other Cornelius that I see, my guess would be that the name may have come from the Street side of the family. Margaret Street's parents were John Henry b. 1919 d. 1873 & Elizabeth “Betsy” b. 1816 d. 1886. It's possible Elizabeth "Betsy"'s maiden name or father's name may have been Cornelius since they often named children after other relatives. That would at least be my best guess???

Are your line of Hardins related to mine?
