Herbert Hardiman- Birmingham, England
I'm looking for info on my ggrandfather Herbert Hardiman b. Dec 7, 1879/80 in Birmingham, England (son of George Hardiman). He married Mary Hignett (b. Jan 8 1880- Ormskirk, England; daughter of Thomas Alexander Hignett) on June 11, 1904 in St. Cuthberts Church in Birmingham. According to immigration records it looks like Herbert and Mary moved to Manchester sometime between 1904 and 1911. They had a son (also named Herbert Hardiman) on Sept 7 1909. I found immigration records for Herbert (the father) saying he came to America on the ship Carmania in 1911. I have been unable to find the records for his wife or son but I know they came at some point. Mary and Herbert settled in Philadelphia,PA. According to their marriage certificate Herbert lists his occupation as a "gold beater" and Mary lists her as a domestic servant. They both resided at 216 Winsor Green.
Also- George Hardiman lists his rank or profession as a "carter" and Thomas Alexander Hignett lists his as a "groom" does anyone know what those mean?
Thanks for any help!
