James & Cyrena Hardesty, Clinton Co., Ohio

Trying to locate my wife's Great Grandmother's family. Luella Hardesty and her people were from Clinton County, Ohio (around New Vienna). I have her living with her parents, James & Cyrena(?) Hardesty in 1870 in Illinois, although all of them were born in Ohio. By 1880 Luella's parents have disappeared (died?) and she is living with an Uncle and Aunt (Abraham & Mary Groves) in Clinton Co. Ohio. The 1870 census shows her father James as a Plasterer by trade. I find a James Hardesty in 1850 with the same birth year and also a Plasterer living in Illinois with Hosiah and Matilda Stout.

Here is what we have on them:

Family legend has it that the Hardistys settled the first cabin in Indiana. James is probably the son of either William Hardesty (b. 1795/97 in PA, MD or OH., d. 6 Feb 1875) or James Hardesty (b. 1801 in VA, d. after 1860) as he is the nephew of their brother, Robert Hardesty (b. 1800/05 in PA or OH, d. after 1870) His grandfather appears to be Joshua Hardesty (b. about 1761, in PA, d. after 1850) who was living with his sons in Lees Creek, Wayne Twp., Clinton Co. Ohio in 1850. There is also Henry Hardesty listed in the 1840 census for Wayne Twp, age 40-50. This could be another brother to Wm, James and Robert. There may have been more children to James and Cyrena - Rose Hardisty? Many of the Hardisty's are buried in New Vienna, Ohio.

Can anyone find a connection with their Hardesty's?
