Unfortunately, the parents of John Nicholas Harder of North Carolina are unknown. They certainly are not Jacob Herder and Maria Van Hoesen of Columbia County, NY. Two of the basic reasons are: This couple never had a child by that name and the 2 surviving sons John (or Jan) and Nicholas both were born, baptised, married, had children, lived and died in Columbia County, NY. There's a lot of BS out there, folks, even at the LDS site! Jim Harder
