In Reply to: Harden family of South Carolina, Florida by Debra Wilmoth of 1406

I have this little reference to a FRANCES4 ELVENIA HARDEN

Children of HENRY2 WILKINS HARDEN, JR (HENRY1 WILKINS HARDEN, SR) and ELIZABETH DAVIS:
1. JOHN3 HARDEN (HENRY2 WILKINS HARDEN, JR, HENRY1 WILKINS HARDEN, SR) was born 23 April, 1799 in Chester County, South Carolina, and died Between 1842 - 1848 in Chester County, South Carolina, Buried Liberty Graveyard, Chester, South Carolina. He married ANNIE JONES 1817 in Chester County, South Carolina, daughter of JOSEPH JONES and Unknown BOYD.
Children of JOHN3 HARDEN and ANNIE JONES are:
1.       SALLIE4 HARDEN
2.       JOSEPH4 HARDEN
3.       AZUBA4 HARDEN
4.       ELIZABETH4 HARDEN
5.       WILLIAM4 HOLMES HARDEN born 23 December, 1830 died 2 March, 1905
2. JOSEPH3 D. HARDEN (HENRY2 WILKINS HARDEN, JR, HENRY1 WILKINS HARDEN, SR) was born 27 March, 1800 in Chester, South Carolina, and died before 3 July, 1837 in Laurens County, Georgia. He married FRANCES FANNIE SMITH about 1821 in Chester County, South Carolina, daughter of HENRY SMITH and "FRANCIS" Unknown.
Notes for JOSEPH D. HARDEN
"HENRY SMITH, Administrator of JOSEPH D. HARDEN, deceased 1839"
Notes for FRANCES FANNIE SMITH:
Evidently Frances did not want her 2nd husband N.B.W. SNELLGROVE to know her correct age. She was much older than stated in the 1850 Federal Census of Laurens County. Lets look at the different Censuses and how she stated her age. All of the Censuses are from Laurens County.
1850 She reported her age 40 years. Her birth year about 1810. This would mean she was about 12 years old when her first child LOUISA HARDEN was born.
1860 She reported her age 58 years. She pick up 8 years. Her husband died between 1850 and 1860 Census. She is Head of Household in 1860. 1870 She reported her age 65 years. She dropped 3 years. We figure she really should have reported her age 68. She is living in the household of her son, FRANK SNELLGROVE in 1870 Census.
From looking at the above Censuses it is assumed she was born CIRCA 1802.
Children of JOSEPH3 D. HARDEN and FRANCES SMITH are:
1.       LOUISA4 HARDEN born 1822 died after 1880
1. LEANDER4 HARDEN born 6 November, 1824 died 11 May, 1873
2. FRANCES4 ELVENIA HARDEN born 28 December, 1834 died 28 March, 1911
