My mom is Eula Mae (Chavis) Short <divorced* Williams.

Her mother was Beatrice (Harcrow) Chavis her father was Norman Chavis. (My grandfather)I visited my grandparents many times at their home in Bend, Oregon where Slim was a master carpenter and worked for himself. He was also an avid hunter (bird dog) and "Grammy" was a homemaker, gardener and deeply religious. Grandad passed away in New Mexico (Demming?) and Grammy died in a hospital in Tracy California. Both were cremated. Grandad's ashes were scattered in a riverbed near Los Lunas, NM. More on Grammys'.

Mom and I found this site today together, she told me that Norman (Slim) Chavis once saved either (Uncle) Tillman, Finis, or Boone from a flash flood in Texas that had washed his car downstream by pulling him out with a jacket.

I am interested in finding out about both the Chavis side and the Harcrow side. In particular Ira Harcrow who was my maternal great grandmother.

Please drop me a line at my e mail.
