Harberts VA 1700

My Harberts are an interesting bunch. They couldn't make up their minds on how to spell the surname. The line begins in Henrico Co. VA 1740's. Matthew Herbert/Harbert shows up on other folk's patents about 1748. He had two sons John Harbert/Harbord and William Herbert/Harbert. John had four sons. Matthew, Joseph Bayley and Hezekiah Mosby all carried the Harbert surname. One of John's sons, William, chose the spelling Harbord. His male descendants were not very numerous and therefore it's hard to find someone with this surname. William Herbert/Harbert's children all carried the Herbert surname.
