Looking for parents/siblings of John L. Harbert b. circa 1804 who married Elizabeth Ellis in Cape Girardeau, MO. Children were 1.(Dr) Jacob Ellis b. 1827 Cape Girardeau, married Nancy Matlock; 2. Emily married a Collins; 3. Matthew Riley b. April 1829 married Rebecca Jane Burkes; 4. John Perry "J.P" b. in Iowa 1843, married Kezziah "Kissey" Ramsey; 5. Ellen b. abt 1845; 6. Alberta b. abt 1850 married a Smith. 2nd wife of John L. was named Parthenia.
At least two of John's sons - Matthew & J.P. lived and died in Stanislaus Co., CA.
The following is from an 1889 Goodspeed's bio of John's son Jacob Ellis Harbert:
"John Harbert was a native of Kentucky, whence he removed to Cape Girardeau County, MO, and was married in the latter place. Soon after his mariage he removed to McLean County, Ill., and remained about twelve years. He was a farmer and mechanic. From Illinois he went to Iowa, but three years later removed to Southwest Missouri, and located in Barry County. Later he removed to Newton County, and died in Neosho in 1862."
