Hi Ellen,
I was waiting for a phone call and surfing the Internet and came across your post. Here is a sketchy (and just word of mouth) background on our family.
Your great grandfather -- William G. Harber (died circa 1949, in Winthrop, MA), who is my grandfather -- was the son of a William Gerrard of England. That's where the G in the middle name is from. (His wife was Henrietta (sp?) and her maiden name was Power. Their family came from Ireland via Newfoundland.)
In my father's papers I came across a copy of a will for a Joseph Gerrard (obvious ancestor) in the town of Crowton in the County of Chester, England (I don't think the town exists anymore or has been renamed). The date of the will is Feb. 19, 1732
Hope that helps you in your search.
