Otto Bassey/Basey HARRELSON.According to his WWI draft registration, Otto was born 3 Sep 1881 - though his death certificate notes his birthdate as Sept.(?) 1880.His first marriage was to Lillian Belle NEAL 20 Aug 1913 in Clinton, Henry Co. MO.They were divorced (probably in Iowa) before he registered for the draft in 1918.
Many claim that William Robert HARRELSON and Malinda SWEAZEY were Otto's parents. But his death certificate names John HARRELSON as his father - making him a younger brother to William, Thomas and James.I believe that their mother Mary Jane SMITH had died sometime before Aug 1887 as that is when John had remarried to Nancy GUILLILAND.William and Malinda were married in Jun 1888....... and so it appears that Otto was then raised by his older brother.
As best I know, Otto was married three times. His second marriage was toGrace B. NORMAN on 13 Oct 1919, Mexico, Audrain Co. MO.She was born 9 May 1893 in Montgomery Co. MO - the daughter of James Thomas NORMAN and Lucy Ann JOHNSON.Grace died 15 Jan 1926 in Mexico, Audrain Co. MO.I believe that there are no children from this marriage - but am not certain.
And lastly he married Ethel (PEALER?); They were the parents of 3 children - Christina June [1929-2005]; Elizabeth Mae [1933-2004]; and Jim.Otto was divorced at the time of his death on 11 Apr 1950 in Louisiana, Pike Co. MO.He was buried in the Riverview Cemetery in Pike Co. MO.
