BINGO! Thank you, Jean. What a pleasure to exchange information with a true genealogist.
I'm a Fulton hunter and your Haralson information confirms my long-standing theory, that the Mary "Harrison" household (1840 US Census, Marion Co, IL), adjacent to the David Fulton household, is actually David's only sister, Mary Fulton, widow of Paul Haralson. Thank you! Thank you!
In 1809, "P. Haralson" was appointed Justice of the Peace for Randolph County, Northwest Territory. [Ref: "Combined History Of Randolph, Monroe, And Perry Counties Illinois – Biographical Sketches of some of their Prominent Men and Pioneers," published by J. L. McDonough & Co., Philadelphia 1883, page 103.]
Mary (Fulton) Haralson died 2 May 1857 at Marion Co, IL, and is buried in the Union Grove Cemetery. [Research of John Fulton of Athens, TX.]
Are these dates consistent with Mary's application?
Paul Haralson, b bef 1760, d bef 1840.
Mary (Fulton) Haralson, b 20 Mar 1779, d 2 May 1857.
By chance, did widow Mary (Fulton) Haralson state WHERE she was born? It's really significant!
