I have just begun my reasearch of my granmother (Lillian Marie James) and found a Emelie Hanssen of St Louis County, MO, born March 16, 1858, wife of Gustav Hanssen and died August 2,1939. I believe she had a sister in-law named Lillie Hanssen (James), my great grandmother, born August 8, 1880 and died November 27, 1935.
I am not sure when they came over from Germany or if they are your Hanssen's as well.
