Buffalo, NY Hanson's

I recently discovered my great-great grandparents emigrated from Ireland to the United States. I have done some genealogy research since about them, but I'm hoping to learn more of them. Thus am I seeking your advice.
We currently know quite a bit about our Hanson line in America, beginning in 1845, but we know very little of our ancestry in Ireland. Here's what we know so far. Our lineage in America is all situated in the Buffalo, New York area, (and nearby Angola and Hamburg suburbs of Buffalo). My great-grandfather was William, and his father was Thomas. It is with Thomas where things begin to get murky. Recently I found out, in the U.S. Census records, that Thomas and his wife Hannah Jane (Boyd) were our great-great grandparents, both born in Ireland circa 1822 and 1826 respectfully. We also know that Thomas' brother John also immigrated to America, that he was born circa 1820, and he married Hannah Jane's sister Nancy (Boyd), also born in Ireland. They all lived in Buffalo for a while, then they ended up getting a farm together, (Thomas and John, and their families) later on in Angola, New York. The first three children that Thomas and Hannah Jane had were, I beleive, Willian, Robert and Thomas Jr. We ended up with a copy of Thomas Sr.'s death certificate, which stated that his parents names were William and Catherine, (as mentioned earlier, one of Thomas' son was also named William). And, as stated on another US Census Record, Thomas' parents were born in Ireland. We did come across a William Hanson in the Griffiths Valuation (circa 1840-50?), in the Coleraine township, county Londonderry, Northern Ireland, but we aren't certain if this is "our" William or not. Apparently though, there were a bunch of Boyd's in the next parish over, (possibly of Scottish decent?), in Killowen, lending credence to the possibility that the Hansons and Boyds met there before coming to America. We're guessing they might have come over between 1840-4(?). Presumably they landed in New York City, and followed the Hudson River and Erie Canal to Buffalo.
So, there you have it. Does anyone know of our "William and Catherine" in Ireland, and their Irish location? Thank you for any help and advice you may offer.
Best regards, Dick Hanson
