Matthew Wesley Hanscom (1910-1987) and his sister, Ethel (Hanscom) Manwaring (1913-1993), were second cousins of my grandfather, Victor Hanscom. I corresponded with both of them prior to their deaths.

I have more information on Matthew's family, but, because his wife Alida is still alive, I prefer not to post it. Please contact me at rodihan@juno.com and I will provide more detailed info to you privately.

Matthew's parents were:

MATTHEW HANSCOM, b. Fall River, Massachusetts, 28 Dec. 1881, s/o Ivory Pike Hanscom (1833-1883) and his 4th wife, Mary Jane /"Jennie" (Elliott) Hanscom (1846-1932); d. in Middleboro, Massachusetts, 11 March 1933, age 51 years. Matthew m. ETHEL SHAW GLASSEY, b. Fall River, Mass., 24 January 1885; d. in Middleboro, Mass., 17 July 1964, age 79 years.

Two children:
1. MATTHEW WESLEY HANSCOM, b. Fall River, Mass., 25 Feb. 1910; d. in Sandwich, Mass., 19 June 1987, age 77. He m. 26 April 1935, ALIDA WADSWORTH.

2. ETHEL HANSCOM, b. Fall River, Mass., 5 August 1913; d. in Ellenton, Florida, 8 May 1993, age 79 years. She m. WINTHROP RITTER MANWARING.

Ivory Pike Hanscom (1833-1883), Matthew W. Hanscom's grandfather, was a younger brother of my great-great-grandfather, Alexander Smith Hanscom (1819-1868). Both of them were born in Chatham, New Hampshire and were among the 14 children of Ezra Davis Hanscom (b. 1788) and his wife, Elizabeth (Smith) Hanscom (1793-1859), early Chatham settlers.
