John, The correct spelling is Hanratty, although, it is spelled differently in many ways such as Henretta, Henratty, Henretty, Hanretty, etc. But they're all derived from the Hanrattys. The Hanrattys came from 3 counties in Ireland. They are Armagh, Louth, and Monaghan. If your family came from Ireland, you should be able to start your search right there. Anyway, there are several Hanrattys in Pittsburgh, but you'll find a bunch of them from your town to all the way to Erie. Other towns that have Hanrattys are Butler, Meadville, Conneautville, Edinboro, and Crawford county. Western Pa is loaded with Hanrattys as well as the whole state (Harrisburg, Philadelphia, etc). I need more information from you to jumpstart your search, because there's a possibility that Heneroty might come from other name source. There is a Hanratty genealogist in Illinois, who is doing research with the Hanrattys in western Pennsylvania. So get back with me with what you have. Good luck, Jack Hanratty Notify Administrator about this message?
