Dear Caroyln, Sadly Nita has passed away.Nita was a wonderful lady.I met her a few years ago at her home in Arkansas.I am in touch with her daughter Cheryl. Pete Hanratty was my Great Uncle. He was born in Cumbernauld Scotland on the 26th Dec 1864.His parents were Bernard Hanratty and Mary Torley.Pete dropped one of the "t" from his name when he went to America in the 1880s. Fred Dunbar wrote a book about his life called Pete Hanraty "Champion of the working Man" Fred Dunbar in his book got the wrong Bernard Hanratty as Pete's father. Pete Hanratty had a much younger brother who also went to America called John Hanratty.John was an important Trade Union Official in the united Mine Workers of America,in Birmingham Alabama and Tallahassee Georgia Pete Hanratty's other siblings were Agnes,Margaret and a Hugh who may have died in infancy. I will look at my notes to see if there is anything further I can help with. If you look at my postings on this site and ancestry you will glean more info Best Wishes Mary Notify Administrator about this message?
