Hanrahan Family Genealogy Forum

Hi fellow Hanrahans,
I've started on the journey of trying to piece together my family tree on the Hanrahan side.
I know my great grandfather came out from, I think, County Tipperary around 1840 to 1850. He was apparently one of three "john hanrahans" listed on various boats. He ended up in Kiama, on the South Coast of New South Wales. He became one of the first members of the inaugral Kiama Municipal Council. He, with a team of others, cut their way up through the Kangaroo Valley onto the Southern Highlands (now Robertson, Bowral, Mittagong). He married an Isabel Irvine whom he met while in the priesthood in Ireland, as far as I can tell. They had 11 children, two of whom died quite young. One of which went to America to live. One of his sons was Michael Hanrahan, who lived at Robertson. He, in turn, had three sons, Edmund, Vincent and Harleigh. Harleigh was my father. Michael also had two daughters, Eileen and Isabel. They never married but lived for many years in Challsi Ave. Dulwich Hill. Harleigh had two sons - myself and my brother Brian. I live in Roseville, Sydney. Brian in Bowral. We have had a couple of family reunions over the past 20 years in New South Wales. Obviously, it is the Irish heritage and links to John Hanrahan's other children who went not only to the US but also New Caledonia, and married into the Schmid family, that I am most interested in. If you believe you have any information, I would be delighted to hear from you. Kind regards, John Hanrahan.
