Hello, James! Thanks for your reply. According to the Matthew Haning book by James Leslie Haning, and other written evidence I have seen from (now deceased) family members, Margaret's Creek was named for Margaret (Haning) Snowden. She was the youngest child of Matthew Sr. and his first wife, before he married Peggy McKinney.
It is interesting you found land grant documents! Do you know if copies of those are readily available, and if so who would I need to contact to purchase some? Thanks!
