Pipe Major Robert Hannah, Canada, WW II era

Are you related to or have information about the late Robert Hannah who was Pipe Major of the Royal Canadian Highlanders (the Black Watch) during the Second World War?

My name is Brad Heath and I am a freelance writer and photographer in the City of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. I am also Pipe Major of the NWT Pipe Band.

I am currently researching the history of the Great Highland Bagpipes in the Canadian Arctic. Pipe Major Hannah toured Hudson Bay Co. posts of the eastern Arctic in 1938 with the Governor of the HBC. Robert Hannah was Pipe Sergeant of the Black Watch at that time but I have been able to uncover little else about him. There are some photosof him in a book entitled Trading Into Hudson's bay, which detailed the HBC Governor's tour of the posts that year.

I would be grateful for any leads or information you could offer! Please contact me by email at bcheath@theedge.ca or arcticpiper@theedge.ca.

Thanks!

Brad Heath
