Mrs. A. Hannaford, Photographer, Ashburton

In researching my wife's mother's family (Lidstone from Buckfastleigh, Devon), I found three postcards from Mrs Hannaford, two of which bear her stamp as a photographer. Her given address was 8 Vealania Terrace, Ashburton.

I don't know anything about this person. May have been a friend of the family or may even have been a relative. The postcards have no addressee or postage stamp/date and appear to have been sent in an envelope. One is the town of Ashburton and the others are the WWI war memorials in Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, each unveiled in 1920.

Thomas Lidstone, b. 1818 Buckfastleigh, came to the US abt 1868 with his wife Catherine Bastow (nee Easterbrook) and their three sons - Thomas, James and Eli. Mrs Hannaford probably sent the postcards to this family.

I would greatly appreciate any information anyone might have to clear up this particular puzzle.

Ralph Nichols
