I am searching for additional information for my family of Hannafords since I am missing lots of details of birth dates, locations, deaths, and burial locations, etc. I have nothing before Thomas HANNAFORD married to Margaret (Bartoll) Hannaford. Is there someone out there with immigration information for the Hannafords in this family? Please help! Thanks.
My 4th great grandparents were Thomas HANNAFORD and Margaret (Bartoll) Hannaford. I do not know the exact dates of their births, but both were born about 1720 in Falmouth, York, ME (under jurisdiction of Massachusetts at that time). Their intent of marriage was published May 17, 1744, at which time their names were spelled Thomas Huniford and Margaret. She died before October 17, 1781, and her parents were: William Bartoll and Mary Felt.
Their son (my 3rd great grandparents), Robert Bartoll HANNAFORD, exact date of his birth unknown, and listed as Born in New Gloucester, ME; his wife Martha Tucker was born September 22, 1745 in Gloucester, Essex, MA. This could be the same place with the Massachusetts, Maine jurisdiction changes.) Robert Bartoll HANNAFORD signed a deed in 1773 in Cumberland County as "Robert Bartol Hunniford". The name was spelled on the deed as "Honyford", so I realize there were various spellings of the name at that time. He was described as a taylor (tailor) of North Yarmouth, located between Falmouth and New Gloucester. I have no marriage or death information for either Robert B. Hannaford or for his wife, Martha Tucker.
Their children are Robert HANNAFORD, Margaret HANNAFORD, and David HANNAFORD. Robert HANNAFORD and Mary Jones were my 2nd great grandparents. He was born May 21, 1771 in New Gloucester, Cumberland, ME, and she date and place unknown;as his second marriage they were married February 21, 1826 in Concord, Somerset, ME. Robert had six children by his first marriage to Esther Ayers who were William Hannaford, Esther Hannaford, Ephrin Hannaford, Thomas Hannaford, Dorcas Hannaford and Zekial Chase Hannaford.
The son of Robert HANNAFORD and Mary Jones was Belcher Jones HANNAFORD, my great grandfather, was born March 12, 1828 in Concord, Somerset, ME. He died October 23, 1874 in Nemaha, Kansas. He was married three times, was widowed twice, and was last married to Huldah Sarah Cooper on January 10, 1871 in Cincinnati, Pawnee Co., Nebraska. She died December 28, 1912 in Gove, Kansas.
Belcher J. HANNAFORD and Huldah (Cooper) Hannaford had two children: Charles J. W. Hannaford and Frances N. Hannaford (birth name Fanny Nancy Mary Ann Hannaford). Frances (my grandmother) was born March 23, 1874 in Chicago, Pawnee County, Nebraska, and was only 7 months old when her father, Belcher, died. She married Daniel Webster Beougher (from Ohio) in Gove, Kansas, they had 12 children all born in Kansas, and moved to Oregon in 1914.
