Name:Margaret Hanlin, widow of Patrick

Reason:Married after service, but previous to January 1, 1794--she, or her children can claim under act July 7, 1838.
Patrick (O'Hanlon) Hanlin. Was born in Ireland and came to this country with his parents. He was a soldier of the American Revolutlon for six years, having fought in the battles of Brandywine and Paoli where he received wounds. His company was the Third Pennsylvania Regiment commanded by Colonel Bultler.
Patrick married wihile he was serving in the Revoluntionary War. He and Margaret were wed according to the forms of the Church of Enland at the home of Colonel James Chambers on Canagojizz Creek in Pennsylvania. He arrived for the wedding, which took place sometime in 1778 or 1779, wearing his uniform and carrying his knapsack and musket.
After the war, the couple moved to Harrison Co., Virginia (now WVa.) Patrick bought property on Booths Creek and Lost Run from James Moline in the spring of 1799.
In the fall of 1808 he sold the land to Elizabeth Williamson and moved to Tyler Co. Virginia, where the received 400 acres f land for his services in the war. This land was located on Sugartree Creek in Mead twp.
In 1823 Patrick sold the Tyler Co. land and moved to Ludlow Twp., Washington Co. Ohio. He died there on February 28, 1826. He was buried in Tice Cemetery on the Little Muskingum River, the oldest cemetery in Ludow Twp.. Graves of the other members of the Hanlin and Mosser families are also located in that cemetery.
Margaret applied for a widow's pension in August of 1840 from Tyler Co., Virginia, but when the 1840 census was taken she was listed as living with her son, Felix, in Jackson Co., Virginia.
