I am researching the Randolph surname of 3 women who lived in Lincoln County, Tennessee. My husband's great grandmother Adaline "Addie" Randolph b. July 31, 1867 and d. February 23, 1942 (dates taken from tombstone) She married John J. Howell in Lincoln County, Tennessee in 1887. The first time I have located Addie she is age 12, in the 1880 census of Lincoln County, Tennessee living as a sister-in-law of William Daniel age 36. Also living there other than his wife (2nd marraige) is another sister-in-law Martha Randolph age 36. However, his wife Minerva is not their sister in this census. The 1870 census of William Daniel has his wife as Sarah, living with them is a sister-in-law Martha, Adaline or Addie is not w/ this family then. If her age is correct in 1880 she should be about 2 in 1870 but can't find her w/ parents anywhere. From these two census reports I have compiled that Sarah, Martha and Adaline are sisters. Sarah divorced William Daniel as I have found a marriage record for Mrs. Sarah Daniel to Isaac Jennings Hanks Dec. 13, 1892 and the 1900 census has Sarah living w/ Isaac and his son Isaac Allen Hanks then in the 1880 census William Daniel is married to Minerva showing it is William's second marriage. In the 1920 cenus there is Isaac A Hanks HOH and his step mom Sarah and his step Aunt Martha! Again Sarah and Martha as sisters. Living next door to these ladies is John Howell and his wife Addie (Adaline Randolph, the 3rd sister) I have a death record for Sarah Randolph sp. of I.J. Hanks showing her parents as Jim and Martha Sherefield Randolph, but I have a death record for Martha Randolph who never married b. Apr. 3, 1848 showing parents Lou and Ellen Sherfield Randolph buried in Sandlin Cemetery Lincoln County, Tennessee but there is another Martha Randolph buried in the same cemetery born Dec. 30, 1843 that could also be the Martha in the census reports.
I have a death record for Addie that simply shows her dad as Mach Randolf. Keeping in mind that death records are only as true as the info that the informant themselves have all three Mack, Jim and Hugh could be the same man! lol...I might not have the correct Martha either since there are two...HELP!
Does anyone know who the parents of these three girls could be?
