Nancy Lincoln's gravesite, Spencer Co., IN

In my recent D.A.R. newsletter there are two articles on Abe Lincoln, one of which is the following:

Nancy Hanks was born on February 5, 1784, in Campbell County, Virginia. Orphaned by the age of nine, she lived with an aunt and uncle. Thomas Lincoln lived on a neighboring farm. The two were married on June 12, 1806. They moved to the wilderness of Indiana with their children, Sarah and Abraham, in 1816, attracted by the rich soil and the opportunity to establish a clear claim to their property. Only two years after settling near Little Pigeon Creek, Nancy fell ill with milk sickness. The disease, which occurs only in North America, is caused by milk from cows that have eaten poisonous white snakeroot. She died on October 5, 1818, and was buried in a pioneer cemetery near the farm. For years the little cemetery lay abandoned and in disrepair. In 1879, the Studebaker family paid for a marker to be placed on the Lincoln grave. Area residents donated money for an iron fence. In 1926, the site was acquired by the Indiana Department of Conservation. The cemetery was donated to the federal government for the creation of a national park in 1962."

The article also has a photograph of Nancy, her stone, and the gate to the cemetery.
