Contacted recently by a descendant of James Stewart Hanks indicating a 25 marker match to my Hanks family test results. I am a descendant of Luke Hanks>George Hanks>Matthew E. Hanks, etc. James Stewart Hanks, b. 15 Apr 1805 KY, d. aft. 1880. He married Rose Hannah McMullen in Gibson Co., IN in 1823. Research indicates James Stewart Hanks is the son of Wm. Hanks, the Minister, son of Peter Hanks III, and brother of Peter IV. Wm. Hanks b. <1770> PA or VA, d. Feb. 17, 1825, Princeton, IN, married Mary [Anderson or Stewart]. b 21 Jan 1771, VA, d. Aug 1856. Bothed interred, McCurdy Cemetery, Gibson Co., IN 1810 Montgomery Co., KY census Polly Hanks - page 382 males 20000 females 30200 Fieding *(Fielding) Hanks John Hanks Wm. Hanks - page 365 ** males 12010 females 31010 Children of Wm. and Mary Hanks: Peter V. b. 1794 Ruth b. 1797 Nicholas b. 1799 Matilda b. 1801 James Stewart b. 15 Apr 1805 Harriett b. <1800> Wm. is no longer in KY in 1820 - not found 1820 in census and dies in 1825. Early Hanks deeds indicate he owned 500 ac on Slate Creek, Montgomery Co., KY, sold it 1809, went to Gibson Co, IN. 1830 Gibson Co., IN *(Indexed as James F., however the middle initial looks like "S" as compared to enumerator's other writing) James F.
