The documentation is in check, I agree; however, the book behind the desk at the Library of Congress in Washington which has to be signed out shows that Luke Hanks was the great grandfather of Abraham Lincoln. Where that was obtained is not clear. I am relying on my ancestors who were honest, hard working, educated people, who were NOT proud of the ancestry linkage to Lincoln and yet reported that he was in their family line. I don't think they even knew where he 'fit' in. I have looked at all the possibilities and follow more closely the Felix Alley, superior court judge of North Carolina, who contributed eighty pages convincing the jurors, readers, of the fact that Luke Hanks was his ancestor and that John C. Calhoun was his father.
I think that a DNA study should lock down the paternity question and shut us all up! Don't you agree??
