Hi, According to what I've found out there on the internet...OUR familie's first Hanks here, was Thomas III b.abt 1600 and wife, Elizabeth I think they were both born in England and came here (Virginia) with children, one of which was Thomas Hanks IV b.c.1630 who married Elizabeth (maybe Lee) b.1627.
Thomas III was the son of Thomas II b.c.1570 in Stow on the Wold, England married to (Grace). Their Children were: Thomas, Grace b.c.1596, Mary b.c.1598 and Edward b.c.1602.
Thomas II was the son of Thomas Hanks (1st) b. 1536 in Malmsbury, Wiltshire, England and died abt. 1570 in Stow on the Wold. HIS spouse is UNK. His children were..James, Henry, Marie, and Thomas II.
You'll find there are many versions of this as well...but this one is (about) right...heheh. As it turns out, you have a much closer tie to Lincoln. I will send you more. marj
