Alers Hankey

I am a descendent of Jameson Alers Hankey and Minna Louisa Lyons. I would like to know where the name "Alers" came from. Thomas Hankey 1749-1793 had an affair ( apparantly) with a Governess Alers although he married Mary Wyver. Can anyone tell me if there were any children born of his affair with the Governess and is there any proof of this affair. I only know of one son born to either the Governess or Mary Wyver and that was William, born in 1771.
