Hanes Farm ..battle of Crysler Farm 1813

The battle that saved Upper Canada, took place in November 1813 near present day Morrisburg Ontario Canada. I visited the battle site memorial at Upper Canada Village last weekend as I have done several times in the past. The display was changed and extremely updated. It now clearly shows that the actual battle took place mostly on the John Hanes farm and some on the Fetterley farm. The Crysler farm was three farms away to the west of the actual battle. The name Crysler likely applied as this person was well off and continued to be after the war. The Hanes and Fetterleys by comparison were humble folks. I have asked the village to place name markers on the farms in the display so people will finally understand where the battle really occurred. The earth from the original battle site was transported to the Upper Canada Village area. Hoping it came from the Hanes and Fetterly farms rather than the Crysler farm.
For those who are not aware the St. Lawrence River was improved to allow tankers etc. to travel to the Great Lakes with ease by literally flooding several villages in the area of the battle. The battle site and the farms are now all underwater. Please look up the site The Lost Villages and that will explain what happened in the mid 1950s.
Some of the Hanes, Fetterley families along with many others who were the original United Empire Loyalists in this area left in the 1860s and settled in present day Muskoka. One son of the John Hanes family was James and he and his own family were the first settlers yes the first in Huntsville Ontario. There again the Hanes name was overlooked and the name of the town was after a well known gentleman by the name of Hunt. There is much more to the Hanes story.
One more note: if you visit the Upper Canada Village the entrance to the maintenance buildings directly off the main road....that driveway marks the true entrance to the Bush farm (now underwater) Anna Bush was the wife of John Hanes.
Also note Riverside a little settlement to the west of the UCVillage....offshore from there is the true site of the battle. The stone Anglican church..Riverside...is the real church that was moved from the lost village and the church grounds where Michael Hanes, Elizabeth Hanes and John Hanes were buried. You will find data on these people on the internet.
Just wanted to clear up the facts about the true site of this extremely important battle in Canadian history.
