Many problems exist with the early Handspikers. No matter what the spelling. Conrad and William both settled in Digby around the same time. There were likely two brothers.. C. and W. ... As the William my records show as Conrad's son, shows a lised date of birth of 1758, I would "reckon" that is actually his brother. Makes a lot more sense, that way. I think the death date of 1857, makes it very suspicious that those two dates belonged to the same individual. So, my long-standing theory is this. The William born in 1758 is Conrad's brother, the William who died in 1857 is either Conrad or William the first's son. With your Mary's christening being in 1791, it would place her with at least, correctly, the 2nd generation of the name in Digby. Either Conrad or William the FIRST's daughter. From the listing of Mary I have as William's daughter, though this is W. the 2nd...She was born in 1799 and married George Dunn. Sadly, due to the focus of the records I have, I can find no specific mention of William (the first's) family. There is no mention of the total of Conrad (first generation)'s children. I have reason to suspect, the children I have listed for Conrad may in fact be shared with William. Well, as you can see, a confusing period in the family history. Let's not even TRY to go back one generation from Conrad and WIlliam to their father... LIKELY to have been Johannes... gets even messier, when you get into the Bergen County, NJ, records!
