We have been researching my wife's family history for some time now and may have some answers to your posting re SPURWAY in Billings, Montana.
Harold Spurway was born in Peshawar, India in 1896 whilst his father James Spurway was serving with the British Army in the Devonshire Regiment. He was actually born as Edgar Harold Spurway. His sister Beatrice was born in Alexandria in Egypt in 1892 and his sister Lilian was born in Rawalpindi, India in 1893 for the same reason.
There are 7 other brothers all of whom were born in the UK. James Albert V Spurway,b 1887, William John, b 1890, Reginald, b 1897, Cyril, b 1900, Francis, b 1904, Leonard, b 1907 and Wilfred, b 1909.
Of these William, James and Harold (Edgar) all emigrated to Billings, Montana.
Harold married Mildred McCarty in Billings in 1917 but the marriage was very brief and they were divorced within the year. In 1919 he married Nellie Herme who walso a divorcee born Nellie Handley daughter of Milton Handley and Harriet Stoddard. Nellie was born Champaign, Illinois. in 1891.
I am unaware of any offspring but would like to know if there was any.
