Tonia I've just stumbled across your exchanges with Nancy, with whom I have been in correspondence for a short while. I'm into the Handford research because I am trying to establish which MARY TROTT married JAMES HANDFORD born 1796 in Uffculme, Devon and later moved to Bristol.
You see, there were two Marys, cousins, born in the little town about the same time, one the daughter of ROBERT and SARAH TROTT, the other, our line, daughter of THOMAS and ANNE (born BYSHOP) TROTT. One married Handford, the other married ROBERT BAKER, but proving which Mary was which... (sigh!). Nancy backs Robert and Sarah, others back Thomas and Anne. I don't much mind, but like to be as accurate as possible. Also, the Handfords have a lively history now I've started on them, and I'm a genealogy addict. Just thought I'd put my oar in... Go well! Ivy Trott in South Africa.
