By 1881, mine had moved to Dulverton in Somerset. In fact, he was married there in 1871.

Out of 6 (possibly 7) children, my 2xg grandad was the only one to have any children.

It's the earlier stuff I'm having troubles with.

I know that Henry was born in N Molton from the info on the 1881 census, but there is no sign of him either in Devon or Somerset in 1851.

There are quite a few Handfords born in N Molton in the 1851 census, so they may link to him somewhere along the way....it's just a case of finding that link!!
