I have some info on some Hancocks that moved to Sevier Co. from Chester, SC. I'm not sure if they are related to your Hancock or not, but they fit the name, place, and time frame. The names are Lewis Hancock and Francis Hancock. Both served in the 9th TN Cavalry Vol. of the USA. Lewis could be a cousin or brother or something. Here is what I have: Francis M. Hancock b-about 1833 in South Carolina d-June 23, 1864 in Gallatin, TN of typho malarial fever served in company "C" of the 9th TN Cavalry Vol., U.S. married to: Sarah Teague b-abt 1835 in South Carolina d-unknown, in Sevier Co., TN their children were as follows: George Washington Hancock b-unknown, d-unknown James F.M.
