I am searching for information regarding the background of my paternal grandmother's mother as follows:
Francis Elizabeth (Bettie) Hancock, b. March 17, 1863, Kentucky, d. November 16, 1909, Kentucky.
m. October 9, 1884, place unknown
Henry Lightfoot, b. June 4, 1868, Kentucky, d. unknown (appears to have been in Illinois before the 1900 census)
Francis Hancock and her husband Henry Lightfoot moved from Kentucky to Illinois sometime before April 5, 1887, when their son, Louis Elmer, was born in Springfield.
I did find a record in the 1900 census showing Francis Lightfoot running a boarding house in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois, with her three living children and a niece and newphew as follows:
Louis (or Louie) Elmer Lightfoot, b. April 5, 1887, Springfield
Flora Bud Lightfoot, b. August 22, 1888, Springfield
Lella Oma Lightfoot, b. December 25, 1889, Decatur (my grandmother)
Francis Hancock, niece, b. March 1889, Illinois
Harry G., nephew, b. October 1889, Illinois
Henry Lightfoot didn't appear in the 1900 census records, so we assume he died sometime before.
Francis Elizabeth (Bettie) Hancock Lightfoot remarried James K. Emmett, on June 18, 1903, presumably in Illinois, as Emmett was one of her boarders in Bloomington.
I don't have any documentation of Francis and Henry's dates other than handwritten records left by my grandmother and great aunt (Flora Bud). The 1900 census states that Francis Elizabeth Lightfoot's parents were both born in Kentucky, which matches my grandmother's records. However, we don't know where in Kentucky Francis and Henry were from.
