I wrote to Gene Edson, the caretaker of the newsletter, "The Edsonian", and an authority on the 2 volume Edson Books. He sent me back several papers. In examining these papers, what they show is that LOVINA Hancock, daughter of Jabez Hancock and Rachel Wright, m. in 1780, James Edson, b. Apr. 19, 1759, CT. son of Abijah Edson and Susanna Snow. LOVINA d. Jul. 15, 1824.
Children were;
Lovina, b. 1786
Luther, b. 1780-1790
daughter, b. 1780-1790
Abijah, b. Aug. 16, 1793
Luther m. Susan, and they had Jackson, Luther Edson, Hiram, and Belinda.
Abijah m. on Aug. 28, 1814, Cynthia Harrington, b. May 22, 1795, d. Sept. 21, Ottawa Co. MI their children were Benjamin, b. Dec. 25, 1818, m. Ruth Ellis, and Miss Johnson, d. Apr. 1914, Ottawa Co. MI, and Lovina, b. 1821, m. Dudley Thompson, Lovina d. 1856, Ottawa Co. MI
Then Gene shows that REBECCA Hancock, (gives no parents) m. James Edson.
Children were;
Lovina, b. 1786
Luther, b. 1780
Achsah, b. 1783
Abijah, b. Aug. 16, 1793
James, b. 1788
Luther m. Susan, and they had Jackson, Luther Edson, Hiram, and Belinda.

James m. Susan Moore, b. 1795, MA, and they had Anne, Andrew Jackson, and Jane.
It's rather hard for me to believe that these two sets of statistics and names are not for the same person.
