A biography/family history of Charles P. Hamrick is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2, Image 499. His ancestors came to Culpeper County, VA, area from Ireland and Scotland in colonial days. Charles P. was born 29 Aug 1878 to J.M. and Emma (Gold Spindel), born 1849, Culpeper County, VA, and 1853, VA, respectively. J.M. & Emma were married in TN, and soon after moved to Denver, CO, where J.M. was in the merchandising business. In 1905, the family moved to a ranch near Calhoun, CO. Two children: C.P.; J.M., Jr., businessman in Denver, CO. Charles P. attended schools in Denver until age 16 when he went to work for the C.S. Morey Mercantile Company for the next 12 years. In 1909, he located to Butte, MT, and shortly after moved to Billings, MT, where he was employed by the Great Western Sugar Company, and later as an office man at Yeager Bros. Inc. On 1 Mar 1914, he was made bookkeeper and then assistant manager of the Bear Creek Coal Company, offices one mile west of Bear Creek, MT. In 1908, Denver, CO, Charles married Miss Beda "Bessie" Lingren, born in Stockholm Sweden but raised in Illinois. Bessie M. Hamrick, died 29 Jun 1943, age 65, Billings, MT Charles P. Hamrick, died 29 Jun 1949, age 69, Yellowstone County, MT I am not related. Notify Administrator about this message?
