I am trying to find more information on my g-g grandfather, John Myers Hamrick who I believe is the John Hamrick listed for Co. I of the 36th Alabama CSA. He was from Choctaw County, AL. He was killed or died and buried in southern Tenn. on July 3, 1863. A source manuscript of Clayton's brigade from the early 1900s includes this regiment and notes that it bivouacked on Battle Creek on the night of July 4. It notes that 19 Confederates were killed. An uncle was in the Army during WWII and stationed in south Tenn. guarding German POWs. His aunt showed him a small graveyard and said his g-grandfther and others were buried there. But that has been 50 years ago and all he remembers is that it was on "Cumberland Mountain," perhaps near Cowan, TN. Does anyone who may know the whereabouts of this cemetery and if it is still intact? Thanks, Jim
