Hi Maribeth,
I believe my Francis Hanptons may somehow be connected to your Hamptons. Two sons of John M Hampton & Joyce Malone also lived in Turkey Town about the same time as my 3rd g-grandfather according to Cherokee researcher, Mike Wren.
Mike has never seen proof of any connection but says that Robert Brooks Hampton & his brother John lived in Turkey Town and worked for some Cherokees as ferryman then later owned the ferry. I have looked for further information about the ferry but have not been able to find anything.
If you ever find anything please let me know and I will do the same.
