Hampton DNA breakthrough in Lycoming, PA
Posted by: KARL HAMPTON (ID *****2200) Date: November 21, 2008 at 08:12:17

We have discovered a 12 for 12 marker DNA match with the descendants of the Lycoming, PA Hamptons, the descendants of one James Hampton. That would mean that branch is descended of the NJ Hampton line, which many of us have long suspected was the case.

I am corresponding with the descendant and he has indicated that he is considering upgrading his DNA test to the 37 marker test. The 37 marker test is really a necessity to gain any meaningful information about relationships. I am doing my best to encourage the 67 marker test, but since I am not the one paying for it, it is only a suggestion. The cost of the test at www.familytreedna.com is $149 for the 12 marker and $259 for the 37 marker and $349 for the 67 marker test, so it can cost an individual substantially to upgrade. I am most excited because this also might be the first descendant of Andrew Hampton the 1683 immigrant from Scotland, could be a descendant of John the 1683 descendant, don’t really kow yet, but exciting either way and perhaps a brick-wall break thru for that branch of Hamptons.
