Do you mean did I trace back to Colonel Andrew Hampton "traditional genealogy" or DNA?

The answer is, traditionally yes, as best I could with a family that lived on the western edge of civilization for 100 years, and as most of you know, they didn't keep very good records on the outskirts of civilization - so it isn't easy.

DNA wise, I don't know yet. We hopefully will find out before too long. I do have a 12 for 12 identical 12 marker DNA match with two gentleman that also claim to be descended from Colonel Andrew. A 12 marker test is not very conclusive however, I am told one needs at least 26 or 37 markers for some degree or assurance - with 46 or 67 markers being better. Unfortunately one of those two matches is unreachable and the other has not indicated a willingness to upgrade his test even tough I offered to pay for it. Anyway, hope to know before too long DNA wise where I stand in answer to the question.

Karl
