I am looking for anyone who might know of Annie Hampton who would have been born probably between 1880-1890. I think she first married a man with the last name of Rose but I'm not sure. She had daughters named Mary and Ruby and possibly a son.
Annie was my grandfather's third wife. His name was John Walter Liddell. She is the only grandma I ever had on my father's side and I loved her dearly. I would like to know more about her and when and where she died.
When Annie, we called her GrandAnnie, and my grandpa were married they lived, as least for a time, in the northeast corner of Arkansas. I think they were in their 60's when they married. They married in the late 40's or early 50's.
They were married for a number of years and then Annie got sick or something and her kids came and got her. I don't know if my grandfather ever saw her again. When my grandpa died, my aunt says that GrandAnnie came to the funeral which was in Campbell, Missouri in 1966.
My aunt told me that GrandAnnie and grandpa had known each other when they were young but they ended up marrying others, then found each other again when they were older and their spouses had died. My aunt also said that when GrandAnnie came to the funeral, she told my aunt that she still had the valentine that my grandfather gave her when they were young. By young I don't know if they meant as teenagers or what.
I would love to hear from anyone with info on my GrandAnnie. I have pictures of her with my grandpa and my brother and me that are priceless to me.
In the 1900 Lawrence Co., AR census I came upon a family by the name of Hampton. Head of household is Catherine, a widow; with children Adeline, Thomas, Annie M. and Martha. I have wondered if this Annie M. might be GrandAnnie. It states that Annie M. was born in August 1884 which would be about right for my GrandAnnie.
