Hi All,
My link to the Hampson family is through Mary Jane Hampson. She was born circa 1817 in Manchster and married Thomas Walter Pike in 1838 in Manchester. Her father was Thomas Hampson a nankeen, fustian and cotton manufacturer based at Old Shambles in Manchester according to Slaters. It also says he was from Radcliffe. Does anyone else have linke to the Prestwich / Radcliffe Hampsons?
For those researching Lancashire Families the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk Project holds a wealth of information. Whereas the IGI only provides dates for marriages this site gives witnessses etc and for baptisms fathers profession. Although extensive it isnt complete as far as I know. The link is below.
