Help build a War Memorial… online!

http://www.britishwargraves.org.uk/

The British War Memorial Project exists to create an online photo-archive of the graves of British Servicemen and Women from 1914 to the present day (including recent conflicts and peacekeeping operations).

On the UK mainland alone there are in excess of 320,000 personnel commemorated on Memorials and Graves stretching from the North of Scotland to the South Coast of England. Thanks to the assistance of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and sister projects in Canada, New Zealand and Australia, the British effort is making excellent progress.

Anyone can access the site (without charge) and search by surname for a picture of a war grave. We are constantly updating the site, have introduced new search facilities and welcome additional information. We have had in excess of 59,000 visitors in the first 18 months and many resulting enquiries.

It is entirely a volunteer project and we are always looking for ‘new recruits’ from right across the UK to help take photographs in your local area. If you would like to help us, would like more information, or wish to send us details about someone you know (who has died in the Service of this Country), please contact us by visiting www.wargraves.org.uk or emailing steve@wargraves.org.uk.

Lest we forget,

Paul Hamilton
Publicity Co-ordinator (UK)
