Hi Leonard George Hampson was my Grandad and he was married to Ellen Williamson. As soon as I saw all his brothers and sisters names on your message they all rang a bell. As did Cornbrook place. Also, I know that their parents were called Samuel Hampson and Alice Robinson, so I'm sure we're talking about the same people. I discussed the information in your message with my Mum (George's and Ellen's daughter) and she agreed that everything fitted, except that she didn't remember an uncle called Charlie, but she did remember an aunt called Christina who you haven't mentioned. My mum said she also remembers that her auntie Lillian married a man called Leonard Davies and that they had a son called Leonard - You! It's a while since you posted your message so you might have more information by now, but here's what I know: Samuel Hampson married Alice Robinson on 15.11.1902 Samuel's Dad was called Joseph Hampson (rubber worker) Alice's Dad was called William Edward Robinson (baker) Beyond this, if I've followed the right line, the family appear to have moved to C-on-M from Ancoats. If that's the case, and I've found the correct Samuel Hampson, he was born on 28.11.1880. As perviously stated, his Dad was called Joseph, and his Mum was Ann Frances Smith Joseph Hampson married Ann Frances Smith on 22.3.1878 Joseph's Dad was called William Hampson (spinner) Ann's Dad was called Frederick Smith (cabinet maker) That's as far as I've got for the moment. If you have found any more information, or disagree with any of the Ancoats bits, or would just like to swap stories, I would love to hear from you. Claire Notify Administrator about this message?
