HAMMOND(s) TN or GA ???
Posted by: pat Date: January 04, 2001 at 14:17:50

Searching for any connection to the following family.

J.H. HAMMOND(s) married Mary ? ? date unknown. Birth date's also unknown on either.
They had the following (known) children..
Bettie (called Lizzie) b. ca. 1900 TN ?
William Rufus b. ca. 1902 in TN ?
Sarah Jane b. ca. 1906 in TN. ?
Martin Luther b. ca. 1909 in TN. ?

This family came from TN to Fulton Co. GA. in 1913-1914. It was stated that they came from Spring Place,TN. which was in Marshall Co. TN.

J.H. disappeared in late 1914 or early 1913 leaving Mary and children at a shelter in Atlanta. The children were placed in a orphanage and Mary remained at the shelter doing domestic work. It is possible that Mary remarried later, as well as J.H.

I located the family of William Rufus and Sarah Jane in 1989. I also found that Bettie (called Lizzie) married under the name Lizzie HAMILTON to a SMITH in 1916. But she left her husband between 1924-25, and it is not known where she went. Martin Luther is my father and the youngest of the 4 children born to J.H. & Mary.
Any info. on the above will be greatly appreciated, as I would love to know anything about my grandparents or their oldest daughter Lizzie.
Thank's,
Pat
